Strike Your Guests with a Striking Invitation
Every baseball fan knows all the facets of the game by heart. As a party organizer, you can take advantage of that fact when creating the invitation. Theme your invite with manipulated photos or illustrations of baseball gear, baseball game highlights and the sport’s list of superstars. Here are some suggestions for the baseball party invitation:

- Bat and Baseball Invitation – The most prominent form of baseball party invites is the bat and baseball invitation. The cover displays an illustration of a bat angled to hit a baseball. The bat, being the focal point of the design, looks more robust than the actual club used in the game. In between the bat and the ball, you will place the title of your event and the important information regarding the party.
- Baseball Mitt Invitation – A simple yet effective design for an invitation is the baseball mitt. No other sport uses baseball’s leather mitt, which means it has a high recall value for sports fans. Design the cover of the invite with a baseball mitt photo. Cut the edges of the invite, so it has a similar shape to the mitt. Inside the glove, write information pertaining to your baseball party.
- Home Run Design – Since the home run is the most popular feat in baseball, you might as well use it for the design of your invite. Capture or download a photo of a famous player hitting a home run. Make sure that it displays the back view of the player, which looks pretty dramatic. Edit the photo using Photoshop, then insert the party info in a strategic portion of the picture.
- Baseball Jersey – Capture a photo of a baseball jersey then use a photo manipulating software to enhance the details. Replace the team logo and team name with the name of your party and the party info. Print your invite. Upon printing, cut the invitation, so it bears the shape of the jersey. Distribute it to your planned guests when it is ready.
Sport That MVP Look
Baseball parties, outfit-wise, are close to the real thing. You and your guests should wear baseball uniforms along with the equipment used for the game. You have the choice of wearing a jersey or a practice shirt. >Baseball mitts are not really necessities, though you must have at least a dozen if you plan to play an actual game. Here are the elements of the ideal attire for a baseball party:

- baseball jersey (or practice shirt)
- baseball pants
- baseball cap (Learn how to make the perfect baseball cap)
- sports socks
- rubber shoes
- knee breeches (optional)
- baseball helmet (optional)
- baseball mitt (optional)
Decorations from the Outfield
Not much decorating is required for a baseball party. All you need to do is recreate the baseball diamond and the center field boundary for the home run.
- Baseball Diamond – Create the baseball diamond using a sheet of fabric and masking tape. Cut four lengthy strips from the sheet and arrange them to form the diamond. Tape them to the ground, then set four small sacks on the diamond’s corners.
- Center Field Boundary – Capture or download a photo of the center field boundary. Enlarge the image to the size of a poster using your computer. Print the photo then stick it to a sheet of Styrofoam. Position the makeshift boundary beyond the baseball diamond and your venue’s all set.

A World Series of Games
Playing an actual game requires a large space and an outdoor environment, which is not possible for conventional party venues. Unless you intend to hold the party in an actual baseball stadium, you must simplify the game to fit the party setting. Don’t worry, you have many baseball-related games to choose from. Here are some of them:
- Baseball Quiz Show – Many baseball fans are not exactly good players. What they lack in skills, they make up for with their knowledge on baseball trivia. Put these baseball geeks to the test by setting up a baseball quiz show. Ask the participants easy, medium and difficult baseball-related questions. Easy questions are equivalent to one point, the medium two and difficult ones three. Players can choose any of the three categories. The player with the highest number of points wins.
- Baseball Pinata Contest – For kids, they can enjoy the bat-swinging action of the real game by setting up a baseball pinata contest. Create three to five identical paper mache figures (pinatas) and hang them on the ceiling. Group the kids then line them up in front of their respective pinatas. The batters will be blindfolded as they try to hit the hanging figure. The first group to shatter the pinata wins.
- The Game of Catch – The participants are required to wear a baseball mitt for this game. Arrange the players in the gaming area. Keep them as far away from each other as possible. Toss the ball to the first player and he/she must catch it. The ball will then be tossed to a random player and so on. If a player fails to catch the ball, he/she is eliminated. The game continues until only one player is left. (Tips on how to catch a baseball)
- Batting Practice – The requirements for this game are a toy bat and dozens of ping pong balls. A pitcher is assigned to lob the balls to each player. The player who hits the most number of ping pong balls within one minute wins.
- Best Costume Award – In any costume party, not all the attendants are expected to follow the theme. Give an incentive to those who made an effort dressing up. Hand out the Best Costume award to the attendant who looks, acts and talks like a real MLB player.

The Shortstop to Good Dining
Sports events are not associated with fancy dining. Fast food is the meal of choice in baseball arenas. Even multi-millionaire baseball stars settle for hotdogs and burgers whenever they get hungry during a game. If you want your party to be realistic, you must follow the dining norm applied to baseball stadiums.
- Hotdogs – A baseball party without hotdogs is like a song without a chorus. Baseball players and fans alike devour the snack during halftime. You might as well follow suit and serve different types of hotdogs during the party. Prepare regular hotdogs, cheesedogs, German franks, footlongs and beef franks then dress them in ketchup/mustard, mayo and ground beef. >Even non-baseball fans will surely crave for those babies. >>
- Onion Rings – Onion rings are tasty and easy to prepare. Slice several onions to form rings. Cover each ring in batter and breadcrumbs. Fry the rings until they turn golden brown then serve. You can dip the onions in mayonnaise or in tartar sauce.
- Burgers – A great American sport like baseball only deserves a great American meal – the hamburger. You can either cook burger patties or order them from a popular hamburger chain. >Partner them with French fries and onion rings, then you’ll have a feast fit for an MLB superstar.
- Nachos – This Mexican dish is a favorite among sports fans. Place a mound of tortilla chips in a large bowl. Top them with refried beans, tomato sauce, ground beef, grated cheese, lettuce and a little mayonnaise.
