Barbie Party Ideas

The Barbie theme is a theme by itself, but you can narrow down even more. For example, there are Barbie Island Princesses, Barbie Swan Lake and Retro Barbie. The more specific the theme, the easier it is to decorate your space.
Pretty in Pink: Invitation and Decorations

Barbie parties are colorful, so you don’t have to worry about the color motif. For streamers, balloons and banners, combine the colors green, purple, red, blue, yellow, orange. Make sure that your banners or balloons are printed with Barbie’s image on them, welcoming everyone to a wonderful party.
For tables, use tablecloths in solid colors, with baskets full of fresh flowers as a centerpiece. Again, there are Barbie paper plates and utensils available in any party supply store, so you can use those.
Put up a disco ball in the middle of the party space to give the party a more glittery touch. Put up specialized play corners such as a Makeover Corner, and a Barbie and Friends corner. The Makeover Corner should be supplied with accessories and items every little girl needs for dressing up. Get light makeup, tiaras, boas, vests, wigs, plastic jewelry and items that will make them just like Barbie. Have a camera ready to record their transformation. The Barbie and Friends corner is where all their dolls come to meet. Set up a Barbie house in that corner, along with other accessories such as cars, tea sets and even Barbie makeup kits that they can play with.
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun: Games and Activities
Barbie and her friends are always partying and having adventures, so it’s important that your guests have as much fun as they do. Here are some some things you can do at your Barbie party.
- Dance! If you’re having a Disco Barbie party or a Twelve Princesses Barbie party, dancing shouldn’t be left out. You can have a stately waltz or a rocking disco party. Play appropriate music and watch the girls take over the dance floor. (how about getting into the groove into the Top Ten Dance Crazes)
- Makeover. Let the little girls run rampant and fashion themselves after their favorite Barbie characters. Take pictures of them after they’re done.
- Fashion Show. Barbie is all about fashion, and nothing says fashion louder than a fashion show and walk-off. Have your girls strut their Barbie style down the ramp. You can have people vote on various categories such as “Best Walk,” “Best Costume,” and “Best Smile,” among others.
- Barbie Adventures Viewing. Set up a viewing space around the television by propping up large beanie bags where the guests can comfortably sit. Pop in their favorite Barbie Movie Collection, which includes adventure stories such as Barbie Fairytopia, Barbie and the Diamond Castle, and Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper.
- Arts and Crafts. Have the children make their own tiaras or Barbie accessories by supplying them with glue, gel pens, glitter, sequins and other art materials. They can take home their works of art as a souvenir from this great party.
- Playtime. Despite all your other efforts, the best thing you can do is let the girls play dolls with each other. The Barbie and Friends Corner will come in handy.
- Barbie Pinata. Have a pink heart, lipstick, or any of Barbie’s favorite accessories as the shape of your pinata. Fill it with goodies and sweets. (Learn how to make a pinata)
- Glitter Tattoo. Hire a professional glitter tattoo artist to apply colorful body glitter on the girls in different shapes and designs.

Snacks are a Girl’s Best Friend
Make your menu look pretty, pink and feminine with some of our Barbie food choices. These are many very delicious choices that are attractive for both adults and kids, like these ideas:
- Crackers and Dip. Instead of chips, use healthier crackers and biscuits paired with an array of dips like jam, guacamole and even salsa.
- Pink Macaroni and Cheese. Mix in a little red food coloring in your cream sauce before mixing it all in to get a fun pink-colored mac and cheese dish.
- Pink Shake. Mix crushed ice with strawberries and blend them together. You can also make pink milkshakes by adding in strawberry ice cream.
- Pink Barbie Cake. No party is complete without a great, big birthday cake! You can have Barbie’s image printed out in edible ink on top of the cake, or designed in white, pink and lavender frosting. Some cake shops put an actual Barbie doll on top of the cake with a real frosting dress. That would be a very welcome surprise gift for your little one. (Tips on how to make a doll cake)
- Pretty Sandwiches. Have an array of sandwiches such as tuna, chicken or ham and use cookie cutters to cut them into fun bite-sized shapes like stars and hearts.
- Diamond Strawberries. Melt white chocolate and add a little bit of red food coloring. Dip in strawberries to make red-and-pink delights.
- Pink Candies. If you have time, choose white-and-pink candies, like marshmallows and jelly beans, and put them in small bowls throughout the house.

After the party, make sure that each child has received her very own goody bag filled with treats, Barbie accessories, plastic jewelry and Barbie activity books. Don’t forget the souvenir pictures for her to remember the fun Barbie moments. She’ll be sure to love them. Have fun!
