My Little Pony Party Ideas

Since your girl adores these ponies and her birthday celebration is fast approaching, here’s one grand idea: why not celebrate it with a My Little Pony theme? It’s a cute and fabulous way to bring entertainment to your special girl’s special day.
Planning a My Little Pony bash is a lot of fun, but it can be a bit of a hassle, especially if you’re not familiar with the cartoon or the merchandise. If you’re worrying about this, don’t sweat it. Here are some easy pony ideas that’ll make everyone gallop with fun!
The Adorable Pony Invites

Maybe you like to make it a bit fancier and more special. If that’s the case, then pay a visit to an arts and crafts store and grab crafty materials for your own homemade invites. Mix that with a bit of patience and some creative juices, and you’re all set. One easy idea is to outline and cut pony shapes from colored construction paper. Write the details using pens with different colors, and sprinkle some glitter over it. Put inside colored envelopes before mailing to the guests.
Another delightful invitation is to get a picture of the birthday child wearing a pony costume. Print it out on the front flap of blank white invitations. Write something like “___ invites you to a Little Pony adventure at her birthday!”. Then put the party details on the inside flap.
You can also color pages of theme activity books. Ask your child’s help with this. When you’re done, tear the pages out, write the party information on them, fold and then send to the guests.
Be creative when writing the slogans for your invitations. It entices the guests more, so they’ll find the party worth going to. You can write “ Go to ____’s Ponyland Birthday Party! A fun pony adventure awaits you!” or “Flutter by ____’s exciting My Little Pony birthday bash!” With words like this, you can expect a large number of guests to come.
Decorating Like Ponyland
My Little Pony characters live in the beautiful and enchanting world of Ponyland. You have to create a venue that’s just as beautiful and lively it, so everyone will feel the theme better. Here are some ideas how.
- Think of girlish and adorable hues for the motif, like pink, pastel blue, lavender, sunshine yellow and other pastel colors. You can pick two or three of them, for a beautiful look.
- Balloons, My Little Pony posters and confetti are basic party décor supplies you can use. Find ones in the motif you choose.
Cool My Little Pony party supplies - Cover the tables with My Little Pony printed tablecloths. There are many suppliers that can give you these items.
- Create a lovely table centerpiece using a pink gift bag, a balloon bouquet and several My Little Pony toys.
- If your daughter has My Little Pony toys, put them around the place. You can also ask the kids to bring their own little Ponies for the party.
- Sprinkle pink, lavender, and silver sequins all over the table.
- Find images or posters of My Little Pony characters and paste them around the walls. Add cutouts of rainbows, horseshoes and clouds.
- If you have a driveway, let your kid and her guests draw Little Pony pictures on it using colorful chalk.
- Make a My Pony house for the kids to play in. Look for a large appliance box and cut doors and windows on it. Then, paint it to look like a quaint Pony house. The kids will love playing with this.
Pony Costumes
To make your child feel the Little Pony theme, let her dress up as if she’s a character from the story itself. Get her a cute My Little Pony costume, complete with dress, slippers, wings and even a wig and crown. You can find this at kiddie costume stores or party shops.
You don’t have to ask your kiddie guests to come in Pony costume, if you think it’s too much. Just ask them to come in their best pastel-colored clothes or dresses. As soon as they arrive, give them colorful unicorn horns made from cardboard to wear on their brow. Make sure it’s not too long so no one will get poked in the eye.

You can also give them some My Little Pony color on their cheeks. Set up a face painting booth and draw different shapes and designs on the kids’ face, the same ones the Ponies have on their rumps. You can also draw My Pony characters on them.
Playing Like Little Ponies
As all Little Ponies do, your little angel and her friends are going to get ready for some party fun and adventure at your party. Here are some enjoyable games to keep them preoccupied and excited.
- Pin The Tail On The Pony – This game is a must-play at this party theme! Get a large poster of a Little Pony character without a tail. Then, cut some tail shapes from construction paper and attach double-sided tape at the back of each one. Let the kids line up a few feet away from the poster. One by one, they must try to attach the tail on the Pony while blindfolded. The kid who pins the tail closest wins the game.
Playing pin the tail on the pony - Mustang Roundup – Pick out or two kids to be the “rustlers”. The other guests will be the mustangs. When the rustlers hear you say “Corral ‘em!” the rustlers catch the mustangs. When the mustangs are caught, they are placed inside a place called the Corral. They can only be freed if they tagged by a free mustang. Let them play this game, switching rustlers, until they become tired of it.
- Musical Ponies – This is just like musical chairs, with a pony twist. Let the kids sit around in a circle. Give them a stuffed Pony to pass around, while the My Little Pony theme song is playing in the background. When the music stops, the kid holding the pony leaves the circle and gets a small treat. The last one out of the game receives a special prize.
- Galloping Pony Relay – You need a couple of broomsticks or horse sticks for this game. Divide the kids into two team and let them line up at one end of the room. Put two chairs in the middle. Give each team a broomstick or horse stick. One by one, they must gallop and go around the chair, with the broomstick between their legs, as if galloping on a horse. The team whose members complete all their gallops wins the game.
A cool game of horse shoe toss - Horse Shoe Toss – This game is best played outdoors since you need to hammer small stakes or sticks through the ground. Get several horseshoes or small rope lassos. Have the kids stand a distance from the stakes and let them take turns slipping the horseshoe or lasso through them. The kids who gets the most lassos or horseshoes through the stakes wins.
Yummy Pony Treats

- Pin Wheel Sandwiches – These make a delicious light lunch kids will love. You need tortilla wraps, lunch meat, cream cheese and lettuce. First, spread the cheese on the tortilla, layer the lettuce and meat and roll it. Cut these about two inches thick.
- Pony Haystacks – You need shredded cheese, a bag or corn chips, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sliced olives, canned chilli, sour cream and salsa for this. First, crush a handful of chips on a plate, then spoon a layer of warmed chilli over them. Add lettuce, cheese, olives and tomatoes. Top with salsa or sour cream.
- Mini Sugar Cookies – Turn these into delightful snacks by cutting them in different shapes, like flower, butterfly, heart and pony and covering them with rainbow frosting.
- Italian Cream Sodas – Mix Italian syrup and soda water. You can use flavors with orange, pink, red or purple colors. Pour them in glasses, filling up half. Then, fill the other half with whipped cream. Sprinkle pink sugar on top.
