Of the many Japanese cartoons or anime that have reached United States, the most popular among young kids would be Pokémon. If you have little children, they are probably familiar with the adventures of young Ash Ketchum, his friends, and his cute, yellow best pal Pikachu. With its funny and heart-warming stories, this cartoon series has definitely found its way into the hearts of many young children today.

Since your child loves Pokémon and his birthday is coming up in a few weeks, why not use a Pokémon theme for his birthday bash? Not only will he and his young friends have fun, but he’ll also appreciate your touching gesture of including his favorite cartoon character in his party.

Organizing a Pokémon theme party can be a bit difficult; but as long as you know what to do, it’ll be a cinch. Use these simple suggestions to make your Pokémon planning more manageable.

  • If you’re very creative and you know how to draw, you can easily make your own Pokémon party invitations. Get some Pokémon pictures to guide you along. If you don’t have time to craft your own invites, don’t worry. There are many party supply stores that sell ready-made Pokémon invitations.

For your party decorations, buy or create life-sized posters of Pokémon characters and paste them around the party venue. The kids will feel as if real Pokémon characters were playing with them!
  • You can also use a Pokémon theme for your child’s party cake. There are bakeries that can bake a cake with a Pokémon design. If you want to make your own, you can easily use icings to draw Pikachu’s face on the surface. If you have a round cake, decorate it with red and white frosting to make it appear like a Pokéball. Don’t have any talent in drawing? Just pop some Pokémon toy figures on the top of the cake and you’re all set.
  • Kids always look forward to parlor games during parties. For a Pokémon twist, choose games such as Pikachu piñatas or pin the tail on the Pokémon. You can also test the children’s Pokémon knowledge. Get pictures of different Pokémon characters and have the kids guess the name of each character.
  • You can’t let the kids go without any memories of their fun time. Give out Pokémon loot bags to each guest that are filled with goodies, such as Pikachu candies, Pokémon stickers and stationery.
