Easter Party Ideas

The Easter Bunny Comes A-Calling
Make colorful and fun invitations for your party. You can:

- Cut out out invitations in colorful paper in egg shapes. You can even put them in egg-shaped envelopes.
- Put your invitations rolled up in plastic eggs that are available in most toy shops.
- Write your invites on colorful bunny-shaped paper.
- Put your invites in tiny baskets along with the chocolate eggs to make delicious invitations.
- Get free Easter party e-vites from the Internet. Just type in the details of the party, the e-mail addresses of your invitees and press “send.”
Spring has Sprung! Be Colorful!
There’s nothing better than to cheer up a nice spring day by instilling rainbow colors in your Easter party’s motif. Here are some suggestions:
- Welcome the guests with a burst of colorful egg-shaped balloons at the entrance. You can also put stuffed rabbits with baskets full of jelly beans, marshmallow peeps and candies to welcome them as well. You can also decorate the house with more balloons and bunnies for a more unified effect.
- Instead of party hats, give out bunny ears to your guests. You can do this by gluing cardboard bunny ears on plastic headbands. You can also find bunny headbands in your nearest toy store. Make the grownups wear them as well as the children!
- Decorate each table with a different solid color so you have a multicolored overall look without it being too busy. You can also get tablecloths decorated with eggs, chicks and bunnies too. Your plates can also be additional bursts of color.
- Put a nest or basket with colorful plastic eggs, chocolate rabbits or decorated hardboiled eggs for a unique centerpiece on your table. Sprinkle jelly beans and confetti for a more colorful effect.

Easter Games for Everyone
Easter parties are usually associated with children, but they can be a great way for adults and children alike to bond and have fun together. Here are some suggestions for games you can play at your Easter party:

To involve the kids in hiding the eggs, separate them into two groups, with one group hiding the eggs and the next group looking for them. You can also hand out prizes for the child who finds the most eggs, or has found specially-marked eggs.
You can use Easter eggs out of Styrofoam eggs (available at any craft store), hardboiled eggs or empty eggshells. You can also use plastic eggs filled with candies and small toys for your Easter egg hunt. If you want to use empty eggshells, poke small holes on the top and bottom of your raw egg. Use a thin stick or skewer to poke in the holes and use it to mix and break the yolk. Blow on one hole to encourage the egg’s contents to drip out. Let it dry for one day, then you have your empty eggshell.
Egg Toss. Here is a fun game for adults: Pair them in twos and make the teammates form a line opposite each other. One of the pair will throw an egg to his/her partner to catch. Once successfully caught, the pair must take a step backward from each other, and toss again. The pair who successfully keeps the egg caught and intact after all the others have not, wins.

How many? Fill a jar with jelly beans or chocolate eggs. Let the children guess how many candies are inside the jar. The one who guesses the number correctly or the closest to it wins the prize.
Break the pinata. Buy a pinata filled with candies, small toys and other sweets and let the kids take turns in trying to break it. It’s more fun if you can get a pinata in the shape of an egg, bunny or chick.
Barnyard. Group the kids or adults into groups of two or three. Line up each group and make them all face one direction, except the one at the tail end. Approach the person at the tail end and make him or her draw a slip of paper with a barnyard animal on it. The person must then tap the person in front of him or her and convey the animal by making motions (no sounds allowed!) imitating the animal. The person must then pass the message to the one in front of him/her. Everyone should face one direction except for the one passing and the one receiving the message. When the message is passed to the other end of the line, the person must tell what the animal is. The team who gets the animal correctly, wins.
Egg relay. You can have a relay race using an egg. First team who completes the relay, wins.

Easter Food and Drinks
Prepare food that both kids and adults will enjoy.
Egg salad sandwiches. Prepare some yummy egg sandwiches. Just mash in hardboiled eggs with mayonnaise, finely diced onions, salt and pepper. You can also cut out the sandwiches in fun shapes like eggs and rabbits.
Deviled eggs. If you want to put all those hardboiled eggs you used for Easter egg hunting to good use, you can make deviled eggs out of them. Peel off the shell of the eggs, spoon out the yolk and mix it with mustard, mayonnaise, mustard and vinegar. Mix until it is smooth. Spoon back into the egg whites and serve.
Hot cross buns. Want to be a little traditional? Hot cross buns are traditionally served on Good Friday (the Friday before Easter) to symbolize the cross. You can also serve this as a welcome addition to your menu.

Garden salad. Easter parties are best held outdoors to take all the lovely advantages spring offers. Having a cool garden salad is best on warm days.
Finger food. Prepare healthy finger foods such as carrot and broccoli sticks with low-fat dips. You can also prepare finger food for children such as biscuits with butter or jam.
Cupcakes. Children love cupcakes, especially those with generous and colorful mounds of frosting. Distribute egg-shaped cupcakes for the occasion.
Carrot cake. Keep in theme by serving carrot cake to your guests. Rabbits love carrots, so why not offer them to your friends and family too?
Fruit juice. Encourage healthy living by serving fruit juice to your thirsty little guests.
The order of the day for any Easter party is to have a good time. Create a warm, relaxed atmosphere for children and adults alike and you’re sure to have a memorable Easter party. Don’t forget to give baskets full of candy eggs as a party favor. For more information regarding this article, read how to celebrate Easter.
