Making a Grass Skirt for a Luau Party
By Angelo
If you’re attending a luau party, just wearing your bikini isn’t enough! It’s nice if you have a grass skirt to complement your lovely figure. A grass skirt gives you a real Hawaiian look and lest you blend into the party theme better.
While you can buy or rent grass skirts from costume shops or boutiques, there are some women who opt to make their own. After all, they’ll only use it for a night. It also saves them money.
There’s a simple way of making a Hawaiian grass skirt. You’ll need a pair of scissors some large garbage bags with drawstrings. Make sure you choose those that are colorful, like beige or green.
Here’s what to do:
- Lay a garbage flat on a table, and then cut the bottom with scissors.
- Start cutting strips at least half an inch apart, beginning at the sealed end, and then stopping at about 10 to 12 inches from the open end.
- Trim the ends to the length you desired. Some like it knee-length, while some prefer skirts that reach the ankle.
- Tighten the drawstring, and then roll the skirt’s waistband once or twice to make it stronger.
Try this easy grass skirt idea. You won’t spend more, but you’ll have a lovely costume to suit the luau party!
