Is your birthday just around the corner? You should have a birthday bash that you will enjoy and remember for a long time. All your friends must come to the birthday party so it will be fun and exciting. Both boys and girls could come, as long as they have permission from their parents or guardians.
Prepare your teen birthday party early so that everything will be perfect. Your fellow teenagers like to explore and are very energetic, so lots of things can go wrong if you don’t plan the party thoroughly. Here are some teen birthday party ideas that you may find interesting.
Teen Birthday Party Invitations

With a Party Theme: Decide whether you want a party theme or not. If you choose a theme, then everything in the party should revolve around that theme, including the invitations; for instance, if you choose a High School Musical party theme, then the decorations, music, and invitations should conform to that theme.
Without a Party Theme: If you choose not to have a party theme, then the invitations could be simple. You may purchase birthday cards from the department store and just mail them to your friends. If you want a more personal touch to the birthday cards, you can make them yourself by using paper cutouts. Write the details of the party inside the invitations, including the venue, date, and time of the party. You may also include what games and activities to expect.
With or Without a Theme: Basically, you can send out invitations with templates that capture the attention of your guests, even when you are celebrating your birthday party with a theme or not. Printed cards are appropriate for parties with a theme since they can easily explain what the party is all about. If your invitation is eye-catching enough, then you can probably just dispense with the theme altogether. Remember that your goal is to invite guests to attend to your party, so it is best to create an invitation where all teens would want to go. Teenagers always have a common ground. The theme may not always be the answer because you are catering to different types of people.
Different Themes to Choose From
Stuck on a theme for your birthday party? Here are some fun themes that you and your guests will surely love:

The Power of Glitz: Wouldn’t a jewelry-making party be nice? All you need to do is visit your nearest party supply shop and purchase all the things you need to do to make jewelries, like different types of threads and colorful beads. You can also create necklaces and tiaras with your friends. Make sure that you give an award to the teen who makes the best jewelry, to keep the guests motivated.
Mystery Theme: Teenagers love mysteries, riddles, and treasure hunts. Play games and activities with riddles and mysteries to make the party more exciting. You may also tell your guests stories at night to scare them and make them laugh. Award a prize to the guest who has the most mysterious and frightening story to tell.
They Just Want to be on the Beach: Teenagers absolutely love going to the beach. Lots of teenagers wait for the semester to end just so they can have fun with their friends under the sun and play Frisbee or create sandcastles. It would be a great idea to hold your birthday party at the beach because you wouldn’t have a problem inviting friends over. You just have to prepare good food and remind your friends to bring their best pair of bikinis.

The Rock Star in Everyone: Rock stars have a unique appeal that makes teenagers go gaga. You can engage your guests in a rock star diva party where everyone is required to dress like the rock star of their choice; for instance, if you are a fan of Janis Joplin, then you should dress like her. Your girl friends can look like Joni Mitchell, Patti Smith, Debbie Harry of Blondie, Chrisse Hynde of The Pretenders, or Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart. If you’re a guy, your friends can look like Joe Satriani, Jimi Hendrix, Bono of U2, Brandon Boyd of Incubus, Marilyn Manson, Gavin Rossdale of Bush or Steve Vai.
Some of your guests may refuse to dress up as rock stars though. In this case, consider just hosting a battle of the band competition. Your friends who love to play the guitar, sing, beat the drums, or show their bass guitar skills can showcase their talents. Make sure that there is a worthy reward for the band who wins. If you do not have too many friends who are interested to join such a competition, then get a group of friends who love to play music and turn them into the performers of the night. This will surely make the birthday party special because your friends will feel special as they will become the stars of the night.

Go Hollywood: Teenagers, especially the girls, love to doll up and experiment with what to wear. You can have a Hollywood party theme and give your friends the idea that they are in an awards show. You should never miss the proverbial Red Carpet. It will also be more exciting to give your friends a lot of photo ops. Make sure that everyone wears something formal by noting it in the invitations.
You can make them feel like they are really in an awards show by putting glitter star nameplates on the seats so that each guest will know where to go, as they enter the “Oscar Room”. You will also have to make a hall into an Oscar Room by putting up elegant decorations. You may have to use fine china and white table cloth. Hire photographers or friends and relatives who love taking pictures, so cameras flash endlessly not only to achieve that Hollywood atmosphere, but also to document the special moments of your birthday party.
Teen Birthday Party Games
No birthday party is complete without fun games to play. Consider playing these games at your birthday party to keep the energy level high:
Cross the Swamp: Cross the Swamp (it can be marsh or river) can be played indoors or outdoors. You will need a specific area to cross and two sheets of paper for a player. This game can only be played by two people. To start playing, race across the “swamp”, by stepping on a paper. The sheet of paper is what you will consider as a stepping stone. If you cross the swamp first, then you win. If you step off the sheet of paper, you will have to swim back. You have no choice but to start over again.
Pass the Hat: Co-ed birthday parties should be extremely fun with this game. First, there should be three or more teams or players. Each team will need a hat in order to participate in this game. All players must form a circle and one player should wear the hat. The person wearing the hat passes it around the circle and he does this without using his hands. If the hat is dropped, the player who drops it is out of the game. The player who stands last with the hat on his or her head wins. If you are playing the game with two teams, then there should be one cap for each circle. You may also do a relay game using the hat. The group that first makes it around the formed circle is the victor.

The Greatest Story Ever Told: What makes this game different from all other games is that it does not require you to flex too much muscles. All you need is a pen, a piece of paper, and two or three participants to play this game. To start, the first teen starts the story by jotting down one sentence. He then hands over the pen to the next player to continue the first sentence by writing another sentence after it. As the game continues, everyone should get the chance to write on the paper. You, as the host, then reads the whole story aloud for everyone to hear. No one wins in this game, but the crowd will surely be excited to hear how the story ends.
There are a million and more ways to make your party interesting. You should also consider the type of food you are serving your guests. In addition, giving your guests party favors will make them feel more special and will make your teenage party an unforgettable one. With these tips, you can be sure that your guests will be waiting for your next birthday to come.
